Rev. Richard E. Carter
Our Pastor has led Mount Olive Baptist Church since March 2000. He is a native of Waco, TX and has faithfully served in pastoral ministry for more than 40 years.
He accepted his first pastoral assignment at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Gatesville, Texas in 1983. He went on to serve as Pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas from 1987-1995, the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Waco from 1996-2000. Pastor Carter did his undergraduate work at the Hardin-Simmons University of Abilene, where he majored in Applied Theology and minored in Biblical Languages (Hebrew and Greek). He continued his pursuit of a theological education at Truett Seminary at Baylor University. He serves as one of the instructors at the Mount Olive Bible Institute and teaches Christian Doctrines and Greek.
Pastor Carter has served as President of the Baptist Ministers' Union of Austin and vicinity for two terms. He is the Dean of the Congress of the Saint John Regular Baptist Association, of which Dr. G. V. Clark is the Moderator, and is Dean Emeritus of the Missionary Baptist General State Congress.
Pastor Carter is married to Sis. Ruthie Carter and is a proud father and grandfather. His ultimate desire is to hear and heed the call of God upon his life and to work to advance the kingdom of God wherever he serves.
